Here are all of Shaka's jams.

Bar tender

Bar tender

by Laurel Aitken and the Cookoomackastick

Known as "the Godfather of Ska," Laurel Aitken was Jamaica's first real recording star. He was a pioneer in many other respects as well: he was one of the first artists ever to release a ska record, the first to work at promoting his music in the U.K., and one of the first to record for the seminal Island label, itself a major force in the international popularity of Jamaican music. allmusic.com/artist/laurel-aitken-mn0000138792/biography #Lastjam for TIMJ. No sadness but rather much joy for the tunes shared and friendships made so today is a party day. I am not the biggest fan of social media but this was different. I gotta thank the staff for the creativity that gave us free reign on our own type of creativity using other artist creations. Talk about a line of sappy #cheese there. I Hope to see everyone at the other sites. I will narrow it down to two sites for myself in due time. Shaka sez JAM ON!!!

Wild Women

Wild Women

by Gentry Bronson

Gentry Bronson is new to me but after hearing, and watching this along with reading his bio from his site has me interested in hearing much more...i love the wide variety of genres of music he plays...seems like a lot to discover http://gentrybronson.com/bio/ the background pic is my celebrity crush while growing up, the lovely Meg Tilly...I first noticed her on the big screen in the #cheese PSYCHO 2 and quite a few other flicks after...There were many Wild Women to choose from as a #GuiltyPleasure pic...I bet @capnhollis figured I would post Maggie Gyllenhaal from SECRETARY instead...I almost jammed one of her tunes from HAPPY ENDINGS instead but I will do that when I finally get around to seeing the flick www.letsloop.com/shaka www.nusiki.com/#/users/17020 www.godsjukebox.com/selections/username/shaka/ 8tracks.com/cheesemastershaka And for my Eternal Jams playlist from Jammers https://open.spotify.com/user/1257203312/playlist/7j8TMpnCrnYK3DtgBcKgzv

Don't Fool With Fu Manchu

Don't Fool With Fu Manchu

by The Rockin' Ramrods

Happy #WeirdAssWednesday with this garage rock jam Since THE CASTLE OF FU MANCHU is directed by Jess Franco I would guess that the MS3TK gang would be the spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down THE CASTLE OF FU MANCHU trailer https://youtu.be/hJH0KN_UXd4 Dr Fu Manchu is a fictional character introduced in a series of novels by British author Sax Rohmer during the first half of the 20th century. The character was also featured extensively in cinema, television, radio, comic strips and comic books for over 90 years, and has become an archetype of the evil criminal genius while lending the name to the Fu Manchu moustache. The character of Fu Manchu was a highly pejorative stereotype often associated with the Yellow Peril. There have been many #cheese flicks made about this character. He was in an early black and white BATMAN serial that I watched recently on TCM, or a stereotype based on the character. I enjoyed his part more than 'the batman'

Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures)

Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures)

by The 5th Dimension

Final week of TIMJ which means it's party time to honor those that made the site possible for us with their creativity and hard work...And for all the friendships made and new music and artists we discovered...Let's party on until the lights go out before we have to migrate to the other sites that are doing their best to accommodate us "Medley: Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures)" is a medley of two songs written for the 1967 musical Hair by James Rado & Gerome Ragni (lyrics), and Galt MacDermot (music), released as a single by the 5th Dimension. The song peaked at number one for six weeks on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in the spring of 1969. The single topped the American pop charts and was eventually certified platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. Instrumental backing was provided by session musicians known as the Wrecking Crew. The song listed at #66 on Billboard's "Greatest Songs of All Time." #cheese #tillthewheelsfalloff #lastjams JAM ON!!

One Meatball

One Meatball

by Patti Clayton

One Meatball – Song from 1940’s released as a “soundie” This “soundie” from the 1940’s features a poor old fellow who can only afford one meatball. Doesn’t it at least come with a little sauce!? Soundies were an early version of the music video: three-minute musical films, produced in New York, Chicago, and Hollywood between 1940 and 1946, often including short dance sequences. (The completed Soundies were generally released within a few months of their filming; the last group was released in March, 1947.) The films were displayed on the Panoram, a coin-operated film jukebox or machine music, in nightclubs, bars, restaurants, factory lounges, and amusement centers. Several production companies filmed the Soundies shorts: James Roosevelt’s Globe Productions (1940-41), Cinemasters (1940-41), Minoco Productions (1941-43), RCM Productions (1941-46), LOL Productions (1943), Glamourettes (1943), Filmcraft Productions (1943-46), and Alexander Productions (1946). ~cont

Hide The Beer, The Pastor's Here

Hide The Beer, The Pastor's Here

by The Swirling Eddies

All day and evening will be one of the favorite TIMJ hashtags #ThirstyThurday https://youtu.be/yBF_mqvJD8g This comedy song with an underlying serious side was written by The Swirling Eddies frontman Terry Taylor, who used the pseudonym Camarillo Eddy on the album. Taylor tells us that he does write some comedy songs that are just silly fun, but others, like this one, have a message beneath the surface. In this song, the redneck churchgoer behaves like a true Christian only in the presence of the pastor, which is an extreme example of how many Christians can lapse in their actions. Says Taylor: "there are songs like 'Hide the Beer, the Pastor's Here' which are funny on the surface - it doesn't matter if you're a Christian or not, it's funny to you. People identify with that idea: the pastor's showing up, we need to get rid of our booze and whatever else. But there's a very serious theological side to that song.

welcome to part one of an all day run of #WeirdAssWdnesday where there will be jams infected by the wiggies all day long all day long...10 days left in the living phase of TIMJ before the global money grab crisis archives the jammer...the music industry is not making enough money so instead of buying albums donate half of what you make to taylor swift and metallica and others like them that are hardest hit by this crises sarcasm aside, we still have 10 days here to do our thang so i will be posting multiple jams daily for the archives to celebrate the good times we have had here and thankfully a couple of the similar sites continue to make changes so that us music refugees may feel at home...if you miss a jam, no problem as the fine folks that run TIMJ will be providing us with rockingest rock steady beat archives on the net i can't understand what i did find on this band but i will share the clumsy translation in the comments #blues #tillthewheelsfalloff

The Party Is Over

The Party Is Over

by Willie Nelson

I know I jam this tune every year at the beginning of every NFL season and I'm sure I will jam it again next season and the one after that albeit on a different jam site...As a kid I thought this was Dandy Don Meredith's tune...I had no idea who this willie guy was yet...Football season starts for me tonight when my romo led cowboys host the giants with the better Manning QB (my second oldest son the E-Man) will get a kick out of that line.. The rest of the day games are the undercard for my...I'll watch until Texas Rangers baseball starts as it's the homestretch for a playoff push...All my sports rambling noise aside this tune is a #SundaySoother for me that I am also using as a #FoodJam with my traditional Sunday pot of pinto beans that have been cooking since 330 this morning...Great memories of watching the cowboys with my dad, 'The Good Gunner' fill the home today...I have inherited his swing of emotions while watching...Good thing my neighbors like me JAM ON BLUE & SILVER!!!

Welcome to weird ass wiggy #WeirdAssWednesday...In this 13th of 20 episodes it's basically a multi genre-tional music video with the typical opening metal credits usually played by the alternative country roots punk band Nine Pound Hammer in a lounge style and touching on the types of music used throughout this absurdist toon...Warning-this video repeats half of itself after the credits...It was the only TIMJ playable version I could find...The show is for twisted minds and I know of more than a few here Music credits and actual song names are in the closing credits...'Auraphull' is the title of the episode...I am a fan of the ADULT SWIM shows in general...When I used to watch this one I thought it was random with no plot at all but this time around I recorded all 20 episodes to see if i was missing a story in this #cheese feast and I guess there is a story in there somewhere afterall review http://www.digital-retribution.com/reviews/dvd1/308.php #tillthewheelsfalloff

Oh What A Night

Oh What A Night

by The Dells

#SundaySoother with #cheese for dessert The Dells were originally the El Rays - they changed their name in 1953. The song was inspired by a party some female friends threw for them. The 1956 version hit #4 on the R&B charts (Vee Jay Records), sold over a million copies, and became a romantic standard. This was re-recorded in 1969 as "Oh What a Night" with a radically different arrangement and tempo. Released on the Cadet label, the remake scored a #10 position as it also sold over a million copies. --thanks songfacts THE FIVE HEARTBEATS is a flick I haven't seen yet that is loosely based on The Dells trailer https://youtu.be/IKhZXOU5SCg review http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-five-heartbeats-1991

Sound & Color

Sound & Color

by Alabama Shakes

Another excellent soundtrack tune for the season finale of the #cheese MR. ROBOT...it was a disturbing episode like most of them are...the soundtrack choices they make sometimes shine a new light on tunes i have loved for a long time...I started paying attention to this aspect of the show when they used neil diamond's I AM I SAID in an early episode and more recently they used the lee hazelwood/nancy sinatra psychedelic classic VELVET MORNING...this episode also used, the jim carroll band singing PEOPLE WHO DIED (i jammed that before) at a dog euthanasia clinic when fsociety are using the ovens to burn their hard drives while setting dogs free...SOUND AND COLOR is a counterpoint tune as elliot is home watching all of the carnage on his computer i keep forgetting to listen to more ALABAMA SHAKES because their band name seems new country...i'm okay with the genre but prefer classic country here's a good piece from CBS SUNDAY MORNING about the band https://youtu.be/QMYPo-y_ZM0

Blood, Sweat & Tears Greatest Hits

Blood, Sweat & Tears Greatest Hits

by Blood, Sweat & Tears

One of my favorite 8 tracks growing up. One of the few that I liked that were not country and western Soul tune 'Hi-De-Ho (That Old Sweet Roll)' is what caught my interest most. Later in life it would be one of the songs i would sing to my kids as infants so it has a special place in my heart. The album is definitely a #SundaySoother for the most part. One exception "Go Down Gamblin'" I was considering as my #lastjam...this is the first version of "God Bless the Child" I Had heard and probably the reason I would end up loving Billie Holliday so much after high school. "And When I Die" is damn near an anthem for me 1. You've Made Me So Very Happy 2. I Can't Quit Her 3. Go Down Gamblin' 4. Hi-De-Ho (That Old Sweet Roll) 5. Sometimes in Winter 6. And When I Die 7. Spinning Wheel 8. Lisa, Listen to Me 9. I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know 10. Lucretia MacEvil 11. God Bless the Child 12. So Long Dixie 13. More and More

His ACL performance ranks as one of my personal favorites, and I was never more proud than when he somehow slipped ‘Austin City Limits’ into the lyric of his classic rendition of Willie Nelson’s ‘Night Life.’ We’ve lost a giant.” --Terry Lickona, ACL Executive Producer shaka sez this is a must see if you are able...Blues Boy gives his band a chance to really shine...by the end of this you really wanna know the man on a personal level just based on his performance setlist "Everyday I Have The Blues" * "Night Life" * "Everybody I Know Sings The Blues" * "Since I Met You Baby" * "Love Me Tender" * "Some Help I Don't Really Need" * "When It All Comes Down" * "One Of Those Nights" * "You And Me, Me And You" * "Someone Really Loves You (Guess Who)" * "The Thrill is Gone"

Baby Get It On Medley Live on The Cher Show

by Ike & Tina Turner

A happy #FunkyFriday to all...Jamming with soulbabe in mind (biggest Tina fan I know @Avante), and @newley (biggest Anthony Newly fan onTIMJ) too...after Sonny and Cher divorced there was a Cher show in the mid 70s before she would reunite with Sonny for another run on TeeVee...Ike and Tina would be guests two times on Cher's solo show...I don't have the titles to all of the tunes sampled here but it starts a bit funky with BABY GET IT ON and we get a duet with the two lovely divas singing COUNTRY SIDE OF LIFE...There's also a different sense of the word funky with Anthony Newley covering Neil Diamond's BROTHER LOVE'S TRAVELING SALVATION SHOW #JammingToInfinityAndBeyond #Jamoirs

Lonesome Crow (1972 Full Album)

Lonesome Crow (1972 Full Album)

by Scorpions

Conny Plank overheard the band at the beginning these sessions and offered to produce this record for them. Plank was best known for producing Krautrock and experimental rock artists such as Neu!, Can, Guru Guru and Kraftwerk, and his influence can be heard on this final product. With Lonesome Crow, we were just a young band trying to find our way, trying to shape an artistic style to find the Scorpions DNA. There was a ballad with “In Search of the Peace of Mind”, and a psychedelic rocker with the title track, “I’m Goin' Mad”, [which] was a great rocker with Michael Schenker playing great solos. We were just a young band with talented guys, with no idea on where to go from here. For the subsequent album, Fly to the Rainbow, we brought in Uli Roth, who had a Hendrix influence, and Rudolf and I became a songwriter team. When Matthias Jabs joined the band, we found our style, fast riffs but great melodies, along with the power ballads. —Klaus Meine

Dead Man

Dead Man

by Neil Young

Dead Man is the story of a young man's journey, both physically and spiritually, into very unfamiliar terrain. William Blake travels to the extreme western frontiers of America sometime in the 2nd half of the 19th century. Lost and badly wounded, he encounters a very odd, outcast Native American, named "Nobody," who believes Blake is actually the dead English poet of the same name. The story, with Nobody's help, leads William Blake through situations that are in turn comical and violent. Contrary to his nature, circumstances transform Blake into a hunted outlaw, a killer, and a man whose physical existence is slowly slipping away. Thrown into a world that is cruel and chaotic, his eyes are opened to the fragility that defines the realm of the living. It is as though he passes through the surface of a mirror, and emerges into a previously-unknown world that exists on the other side. all info is from the youtube uploader track listing in the TIMJ comments and a note or few from me

The Lady in Red

The Lady in Red

by Megan Lynch

More #cheese along with another fine tune from Megan Lynch (@spidra) with her intro first Introduced in "In Caliente" (1935), a Busby Berkeley musical filmed on location in Tijuana, this song has so long been performed in jazzy versions that people forget its original Latin flavor. It was used in the background for the most part although Bugs sings it in "The Windblown Hare" (1949). lyrics Words - Mort Dixon; Music - Allie Wrubel credits from Songs The Brothers Warner Taught Me, released 29 September 2009 Vocals - Megan Lynch; Rhythm & lead guitar, fiddle - Tony Marcus; Accordion - Robert Armstrong; Upright bass - Brandon Essex; Engineered & Mixed by Mike DaSilva IN CALIENTE trailer http://www.tcm.com/mediaroom/video/104244/In-Caliente-Original-Trailer-.html I couldn't find a full stream of "The Windblown Hare" so here is and interview with 'the man with 1000 voices' mel blanc on letterman https://youtu.be/iHYEt4zptRg

It Can't Be Wrong

by Megan Lynch

Bette Davis and Bugs Bunny #cheese in the same post thanks tp Megan Lynch aka @spidra This song comes from the 1942 film "Now, Voyager". It was used as background music with the memorable exception of "Hare Ribbin'" (1944) which has Bugs in drag as a mermaid singing "It Can't Be Wrong" while the orchestra simultaneously plays "A-Hunting We Will Go". It is one of the most brilliant of the many brilliant arrangements and orchestrations Carl Stalling did for Warner Bros. cartoons. lyrics Words - Kim Gannon; Music - Max Steiner credits from Songs The Brothers Warner Taught Me, released 29 September 2009 Vocals - Megan Lynch; Rhythm guitar - Tony Marcus; Saw - Robert Armstrong; Engineered & Mixed by Mike DaSilva NOW VOYAGER trailer https://youtu.be/f9jjojoPkl4 And heeere's BUGS! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x20z3u2_ep-34-hare-ribbin_shortfilms

Jamming along with with the Megan Lynch (spidra) “Songs the Brothers Warner Taught Me” cd with more #cheese including another trailer and #toon What's your favorite tune from the cd? meganlynch.net/news/poll-what-is-your-favorite-song-off-songs-the-brothers-warner-taught-me Now to Megan's intro and some links I tacked on because I know Birgy appreciates toons much like myself Originally composed for "Gold Diggers of 1933" , this tune was often used when a character became rich or dreamed of becoming rich, as Daffy does in "Ali Baba Bunny" (1957). lyrics Words - Al Dubin; Music - Harry Warren credits from Songs The Brothers Warner Taught Me, released 29 September 2009 Vocals - Megan Lynch; Rhythm guitar, fiddle - Tony Marcus; Ukulele - Robert Armstrong; Engineered & Mixed by Mike DaSilva Gold Diggers Of 1933 youtu.be/JlClq5RT2Gw No Bugs Bunny so we have Bosko We're in the Money 1933 dailymotion.com/video/xvd22z_bosko-we-re-in-the-money-1933_shortfilms

Someone's Rocking My Dreamboat

Someone's Rocking My Dreamboat

by Megan Lynch

Intro is by Megan Lynch (@spidra) If there's one song I associate with Bugs Bunny, this is it. Whether he was a castaway or invading Elmer's dream (in "The Big Snooze" [1946]) or merely killing time, he sang this song. lyrics Composers: Leon René, Emerson Scott, Otis René credits from Songs The Brothers Warner Taught Me, released 29 September 2009 Vocals - Megan Lynch; Rhythm guitar - Tony Marcus; National steel guitar - Robert Armstrong; Ukulele - Steven Strauss; Engineered & Mixed - Mike DaSilva tags feeds WB #toon #cheese time http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x23xhid_bugs-bunny-the-big-snooze_shortfilms As Bugs is pleading with Elmer not to quit, he turns to the audience and comments, "'Bette Davis' is gonna hate me for this." Davis, at the time, was going through a well-publicized legal battle with Warner Bros. trying to get out of her contract. bugs evolution http://www.toonzone.net/shows/images/cartoon-network/bugsbunny-evolution.gif

I Love to Sing

I Love to Sing

by Megan Lynch

Saturday morning #toon time with a bonus #cheese clip with Cab Calloway and Al Jolson...The jam once again is from Megan Lynch (@spidra) and this is her intro from her bandcamp site...Only thing from myself are the video links Sometimes known as "I Love to Singa", this tune made a big impression on me (and others, apparently) in the Tex Avery-directed Merrie Melodie "I Love to Singa" (1936). It was written for use in the film "The Singing Kid" (1936), in which it is sung by Al Jolson and Cab Calloway. In the cartoon, it is sung by Owl Jolson, a one-off character who has enjoyed newfound popularity in recent years. The lyrics make reference to Major Bowes who hosted one of the many radio talent shows that were popular in the '30s. "I Love to Singa" (1936) Words - Yip Harburg; Music - Harold Arlen http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2ijkn_i-love-to-singa_shortfilms Al Jolson and Cab Calloway "The Singing Kid" (1936) https://youtu.be/LfiftuUUV8Y JAM ON Jammers!!!

The Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter

by Megan Lynch

Another fine track from the Meagan Lynch (@spidra) cd along with the toons she references in her liner notes When most people want to invoke the can-can, they use . In order to plug a Warners song, though, "The Latin Quarter" is used in Warner Bros. cartoons. It's often used just as a tune but Daffy actually sings some of the lyrics as he performs a can-can in "Daffy Duck Hunt". (1949). David Gerstein reminded me that the song also appears in "Daffy's Southern Exposure" (1942). Daffy Duck Hunt https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2j6oo4_looney-toons-daffy-duck-hunt_fun "Why the copious flow of lachrymal fluid, my garrulous canine?" Warrior Man

Warrior Man

by Matt Mairellaro

The original episode of SQUIDBILLIES here is titled This Show Is Called Squidbillies (2005) for something a bit different for @WeirdAssWednesday One of the creators is Matt Mairellaro that wrote the ending tune...It's my best guess that he is doing the background music here...I have spent hours trying to confirm that because I don't like putting out faulty info which I probably do anyway...Ater finally seeing this episode a few years back it helped all of the previous episodes full of randomness fall into place for me...Matt Mairellaro also does some guitar work in which I am rewatching now and did a lot for AQUA TEAM HUNGER FORCE...12 oz. Mouse is a show that makes far less sense than many others on that block of #cheese toons than others...That's saying a lot Back to tunes tomorrow JAM ON Jammers!!!

I Wanna Be Loved By You (from "Some Like It Hot", 1959 Film Score)

I Wanna Be Loved By You (from "Some Like It Hot", 1959 Film Score)

by Marilyn Monroe

The only tension in this #SundaySoother #cheese is some comic tension the tango scene is great! https://youtu.be/beAO7zrZL3A trailer https://youtu.be/CPkQ2OQAJSU trivia Monroe required 47 takes to get "It's me, Sugar" correct, instead saying either "Sugar, it's me" or "It's Sugar, me". After take 30, director Wilder had the line written on a blackboard. Another scene required Monroe to rummage through some drawers and say "Where's the bourbon?" After 40 takes of Monroe saying "Where's the whiskey?", `Where's the bottle", or "Where's the bonbon?", Wilder pasted the correct line in one of the drawers. After Monroe became confused about which drawer contained the line, Wilder had it pasted in every drawer. 59 takes were required for this scene.

Be-Bop-A-Lula

Be-Bop-A-Lula

by Gene Vincent His Blue Caps

Happy #WeirdAssWednesday with this tune...this wiggy performance is a different one than they rocked in the #cheese THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT...i shared info on this flick quire some time ago with a different tune I think so I will just share the trailer then on to some tune factoids, mostly wiki The writing of the song is credited to Gene Vincent and his manager, Bill "Sheriff Tex" Davis. Evidently[1] the song originated in 1955, when Vincent was recuperating from a motorcycle accident at the US Navy hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. There, he met Donald Graves, who supposedly wrote the words to the song while Vincent wrote the tune. (Cf. "Money Honey" by the Drifters, 1953). The song came to the attention of Davis, who allegedly bought out Graves' rights to the song for some $50 and had himself credited as the lyric writer. Davis claimed that he wrote the song with Gene Vincent after listening to the song "Don't Bring Lulu".
