Inner City Transport

Inner City Transport

by Metroland

Why this today? Well, I needed something appropriate to mark the news that the 26 miles of tunnelling under London for Crossrail has been completed (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-33002819). And what better than a track from an album almost entirely about London's transport system... Eighteen years ago this past weekend, Brainiac ceased to exist after singer Tim Taylor died in a car accident. Still one of my favourite bands even now, their clear influence on a number of bands since usually goes unheralded. A Little God In My Hands

A Little God In My Hands

by Swans

I meant to mention this yesterday - last night was gig #19 of 2015, the incomparable Swans at the Roundhouse. As expected, it was (very) loud, brutal and lengthy - a two-hour-thirty-minute set that comprised, from what I could tell, of just six songs. The final track in particular was astounding - a relentless barrage of bass-led riffage that was the heaviest I've ever seen the band.

Myth of Building Bridges

Myth of Building Bridges

by Prurient

Daisy asked yesterday if she'd like Blanck Mass. There's more of a chance of her liking that than this, that's for sure. Alex reckons this has echoes of Gridlock, and I'd agree - with an undercurrent always reminding the listener that there is darker, noisier elements around the corner.
