#PenultimateJam :-(( ...THE WORDS TO THIS SONG describe exactly some of the feelings I've had over the past 5 weeks , ....where "Summer holiday" was my 19 months on TIMJ and "The Rides" were our jams ........... (gulp)...

I saw him live around this time when he still had a kinda creepy aura. Shortly after this, "School's out" went to number 1 in the UK & he became mainstream for ever more... #CountdownRockParty #GoingOutinFlames #MyKindofRocknRoll

#CountdownParty Funk with HOLES IN IT!!! ...... Tense, minimal & brittle. This is the kind of music that Krautrockers CAN may have made in their early days if they decided to move into the funk genre with their vocalist Malcolm Mooney transforming into Wilson Pickett.......

by Nina Simone
This is my FINAL #sundaysoother on TIMJ. :-(( I always save Nina for special occasions and that is the case today ... From tomorrow, I will be posting nothing but 'Countdown Party Jams' every day 'til the bitter end but in the meantime....DROP EVERYTHING...take seven minutes out and quietly absorb this majestic performance. You may just even feel the Earth move..........

by Dr. John & Rickie Lee Jones
DR JOHN is on stage...The lights dim & a solitary spotlight illuminates him as the opening bars to " Whoopee" drifts across the juju background. He pulls apart his gothic voodoo garb to reveal a tuxedo & bow-tie. Dropping his gilded splinters, he catches a cane tossed from the wings....The sinister swampland props slide out of view to expose a garish casino-style lounge bar. By this time, ol' Rabennack is really swingin' down the lane.........

I posted this song on LL only a little while ago , not realising that it comprised of total SILENCE! Apparently, Roger Waters banned the use of the music to be downloaded in any way whatsoever, even though the song's duration ( 2 & half minutes absence of sound ) CAN be! ..Ridiculous, eh? ......and you know the funniest part? Seventeen people on Loopy clicked "like" for it!! In case you're wondering how I posted this in the end, it's a 'home-made' job from a bootleg that I own ( I'm coming quietly, Officer!) ......those kinda jams are ANOTHER thing we will be losing for ever now ( Sob!) :-(

#sundaysoother NO!! I do NOT need a box of "Man-Size Kleenex (for emergency use) near-by ,whenever I listen to this song...Having said that , it CAN produce an egg-sized lump in my throat whenever I hear those exquisite harmonies,... as sweet as warm honey-glazed marinated ribs and when you reach THAT sublime moment ( 2:53) ooooohhhhhhhhh.......(gulp)...'ere, push that box a little closer to me, will ya?......

My contribution to #FilthyFriday today is a song where I, OF COURSE. have absolutely NO idea what the words are about. .....well, you see , they just 'sound' filthy, that's all......... because as you all know, I am a virtuous soul, who has lived a sheltered life like an angelic cherub raised in a monastery & who even once thought that " A Walk On The Wild Side" was about a stroll in Kew Gardens..........

by Ry Cooder ft. Harry Dean Stanton
"WE'LL MEET AGAIN".....I've never jammed Ry Cooder before which is almost a crime in itself but here we have him at his most poignant with a song speaking of transitions which is pretty appropriate for the big Jam migration. A melody of warmth and sweetness with an appearance by actor, Harry Dean Stanton, who sings a few verses beautifully, including a little in Spanish......and then there is that swooo-ooping slide guitar that mesmerizes.....aah mama ( sighs) carry me to Valhalla......
Jammed: 25th Aug 2015
#WHATIF ...John Coltrane invented psychedelic music?....Just imagine. It's 1965 & Coltrane is working on his jazz masterpiece, " A love supreme" but being the innovator he was , he decides to move from the restrictive format of jazz and add electric instruments and rock rhythms over his transcendental mantra. Could the result have been something similar to this spaced-out pilgrimage?

TRULY Shocking lyrics in this song and I hope I haven't trod on @aHandfulOfRain 's toes & posted the number one of his 'most disturbing songs' theme ahead of him! The singer & songwriter Colin Meloy actually wrote this dreadful tale while his own child was still a toddler but I suppose that shows the steely-eyed focus of an imaginative & intelligent Artist at work. I think that the most chilling line in this song is the very last one..brrrrrr!... (Lyrics featured in this video) ..... A twilight Dickensian nightmare.........Sorry folks, I promise I'll post something MUCH more pleasant next time!!

...This Avatar is from Oct '81 & that's me , far left with the Westone Thunder bass guitar. You could almost call this the original "MeatHoop" band (haha!!) but they were in fact called "Factions R" ( don't ask!) TWO synthesiser players in the band & this may have had something to do with being impressed by an unknown teenage band we were watching in front of about 100 people in an East end pub from a year previously....their name...Depeche Mode............ANYWAY, isn't this song a magnificent duet? Just makes you want to reach for a Jack Daniels. The best song from the album , "The delivery man" I think...

"REACH for the BRIGHT SIDE"........It's OK, I haven't joined these guys & become a druid or something with awkward body co-ordination. I've just been busy recently, recognising the things that matter, which of course is embracing life & all those around you, laughter & sharing......yes, that's all there is to it.......It's the Monty Python philosophy you'll find on my page. No Jean Paul Sartre here. I always thought 'cerebral' was something you poured milk onto , anyway. "Reach for the bright side"? Well, if you want an alternative, then what ELSE you gonna do? :-)

by The Bevis Frond
I'm seeing The Bevis Frond live tonight! ....Caution folks! Prepare to be FRIED by the blistering guitar assault ( at 4 min 03 secs.....MUST be played loud!)...lysergic scorched Earth, indeed! This song also features the voice of Harry Corbett, the original presenter of the UK TV puppet programme for toddlers & babies , " The Sooty & Sweep Show" ...oh yes, Far out! Well, I say...SOOTY and SWEEP ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...(shiver).... This creepy slice of disorientation & madness DEFINITELY should have been included in the soundtrack to "Apocalypse now". Drenched with claustrophobia, paranoia, prickly humidity & sinister shadows...and my thoughts on the impressionistic finale? They 'whisper'......."the horror......the horror"......

#PrisonJam .... Along with "The Sopranos", this is my all-time favourite TV series and you just wouldn't believe the impact it had on me as a 12 year old when I watched the first broadcastings on our old black 'n' white TV. This , along with "I am the walrus" was my introduction to modern surrealism. I didn't always understand it but I WAS enraptured by it & I never missed an episode when my parents ( who hated it) used to submit to my passionate begging! The English have always been the best at this kind of nonsense since "Alice in Wonderland" & Edward Lear and as for THAT FINAL episode......well, I don't think I really WANT to know what it all meant! :-)

Anyone for tennis? I'm off to Wimbledon today! Yes, it's the Grand-Slam Final day but I'll be on Court no. 1...next door to the final match, Federer V Djokovic ( who makes a cameo appearance in this video) I won the opportunity to buy a ticket in the "Wimbledon lottery". The trouble is, you don't get to choose the day OR the match that you can see and when I opened the letter to see that I've got 'Final Day', my eyes popped out of my head only for me to quickly come crashing down to Earth when I realised it's not centre court! .....Oh well... :-)
