I Know It's Over

I Know It's Over

by Jeff Buckley

I don't usually like Smiths covers so this is a rare exception, and one to conclude my TIMJ postings. I've not decided if I'll move over to one of the other sites which other jammers are flocking to. I might take a month or 2 out then look at it then. Cheers for all the great tunes that have been introduced and reintroduced over the last 3 years or so by all the cool people on my timeline. See ya! ☺

Everything Flows (acoustic version)

Everything Flows (acoustic version)

by Teenage Fanclub

Potentially my last ever Jam so had to make it a cracker. Teenage Fanclub are the only band I've jammed more than once. This is from an acoustic EP they released in 1995 called 'Teenage Fanclub Have Lost It'. It also features stripped down versions of Starsign, Don't Look Back and 120 Minutes, and is well worth tracking down if you can on eBay or at record fairs, but this version of Everything Flows is the gem.

Seasons (Waiting On You)

When you discover a song 18 months after everyone else did and you can't stop playing it. If you're hearing it for the first time or you've heard it 1,000 times already there's no mistaking it as a pop classic.

In the week that the new documentary about her life hits the cinema screens, it's always a pleasure to remember her and her talents for all the positive reasons. Be Thankful for What You've Got

Be Thankful for What You've Got

by William DeVaughn

A no.4 US hit in 1974 and later covered faithfully by Massive Attack on their 1991 debut album. (I was going to post the MA version but couldn't get any version to work apart from the VEVO video which is NSFW) . However, the original has such a great groove so well worth posting I thought.

Three Little Pigs

Three Little Pigs

by Green Jelly

This novelty track reached top 5 in the UK in summer 1993, helped mainly by a cool claymation video. One hit wonders who I'd completely forgotten about until I came across them again last week. At the time, I was so close to spending my pocket money on their album in Woolworths until a last minute change of heart led me to buy the first Stone Roses album (cassette) instead which I look back on as probably the best decision I have ever made.

Great news to hear today that Sly Stone has won $5M in unpaid royalties from throughout the 1990s. A man with the talent to write classic tunes like this shouldn't be struggling to get by in a camper van, but 4 years ago he was reported as being homeless. Go Sly!

Taken from his solo album, Tied To A Star, released last year. I heard this on 6 Music last week and loved it. Different from his Dinosaur Jr stuff, this is acoustic, jangly guitar and the melody isn't fighting against a wall of guitar. He's touring the UK for the next week.
