Today I will be just remembering some of those jams which are all just a bit more special above the rest... In no particular order, for a start...
by Steve Hackett
Not as theatrical as with Mr Gabriel, but sounding immaculate.... Almost time to eat :)
by King Crimson
Well, as a final swan song I spent an age searching and going through favourites I'd jammed before - maybe something a bit longer than the usual 4-5 minutes... By coincidence instead came across this gem - favourite band, four great tracks all segwayed together, motto for life...as a last jam from me it just fits..
by Mark Knopfler
With or without Dire Straits / bandana, always laid back and always does the goosebumps... When will they listen?
by Taste
Rory Gallagher at his raw best....what more is needed to say? Still annoying I didn't have the dosh to get to the IOW then, but hey ho....
by Steve Hackett, John Wetton, Ian McDonald et al
...and I talk to myself, my hand, the wall and various other entities which don't answer back... Steve Hackett adding his fretwork to this KC classic - excellent, and despite my own stated opinion proving that King Crimson music can sound good without Mr Fripp :)
by Peatbog Faeries
Celtic Fusion?? Don't go much for labels, I just remember the good feeling I had when first heard these guys back in 2006 at the Rainforest World Music Festival in the jungle in Sarawak, Malaysia (that's Borneo to those without a map)... still loving them now ...and nae, I cannae pronounce the title :)
by Caravan
From their recent(ish) album of the same name.... Never been to Canterbury but always enjoy travelling there...
by Justin Hayward
Well I listen to it every day as it has been my ringtone for an age, not quite as old as Justins hairstyle - but at least the strings help to smooth over a few of the wrinkles :) His voice is timeless....
by Barclay James Harvest
Because I like it... Great concert from more hopeful times.

by Joe Cocker
Wishing a Happy New Year to all... Thanks to @lynn200 for reminding me I don't play or jam enough Mr Cocker...brilliant version and performance.. In the oldey days I only knew Joe sang "With a Little Help from my Friends", which I loved....only later when I entered the world of karaoke I came across songs from Joe I could (IMHO) give a reasonable version of. One was 'Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word', and the other was this - used to love opening up an evening of whisky and song with my vocal version of Joe's performance - cleared out the throat and vocal chords no problem :)
by Khan
Could have been my theme for life... Steve Hillage, Dave Stewart and friends having fun in 1972. Bought the album in 1974, from a second hand shop in Leicester - cost all of 1.25 (pounds that is)...seen on Ebay recently for 120 so a reasonable investment as well as some great music
by Barclay James Harvest
If at first you.... "Here I sit watching the day out... " :)
by Barclay James Harvest
Like Christmas pud and brandy butter, some tracks were made for each other. Excellent lyrics and tunes from Wooly Wolstenholme and John Lees
by Home
Some happy memories from 1972.... Home never made it big in their own name but they made my list and after they split all went off and became the backbone of various bands such as Wishbone Ash, AC/DC, Groundhogs etc
by Genesis
Simply put my favourite track from the last Genesis album bought.. (excuse my Spanish)
by Blood, Sweat & Tears
Prompted by someone else...heard this version first a long time ago, I always loved B S & T's dynamics plus the mix of brass and DCT's over the top vocal style
by Tangerine Dream
OK, not everyone's cup of tea, but I drink a lot of tea and I like it... There's a lot of TD I get off on, and this is one of them
by King Crimson
"Whilst all around our mother earth waits balanced on the scales" Same mood, different theme... 1970 was an excellent year, for this and other memorable reasons...
by King Crimson
"Islands join hands 'Neath heavens sea." Beautiful imagery, beautiful music... My first and last KC album...
by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Did someone mention #ScottishWeek ? Ok not a great quality video, but a quality performance from a quality band and a song which says it all. Whatever happens tomorrow...this is for Alex and Scotland
by Caravan
From my favourite Canterbury people No story required, but feel free to add your own :)
by Chicago
My head's full of stuff right now, so much to choose. Opted for this - memories of the school dance and head banging whist trying to work out the hidden meaning behind the lyrics. Gave up on that (and eventually school dances also) for 40 odd years. I am now reliably informed it is do with sitting around writing a song at 3.35 in the morning, or afternoon... Anyway..great performance -wah wah wah plus horns, love it... and still try and bust a move as well. Still have the 45, must give it a spin
by Beggars Opera
For the connection, the words and a fine tune to boot... ...and I like it :)
by Black Sabbath
Let's see you going crazy! One of many reunions on the day, this was to me the most refreshing.. Ozzy, Iommi, Geezer and co as if they had never been apart :)
by The Cars
Same day, same mood, different reasons but still cutting grass....... "And I don't mind you coming here, and wasting all my time" Loved the Cars ever since :)
by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
I first heard Tom Petty on 13th July1985, I was in Rotherham, early evening and cutting the grass whilst watching TV through the open window... Been a fan ever since, he has that something for me ..you know what I mean (wanted to play Rebels, but of course that was not allowed...)
by Roy Orbison
That man in the glasses again, with a bit of help from the Dukes of Hazzard...classic song and worth a smile and a few memories :)
by Traveling Wilburys
Great glasses, great voice and a great you know what.. And feel free to cantando en espanol (no wonder Spanish songs never win the Eurovision any more!)
by Traveling Wilburys (plus a few helpers)
"But I was so much older then I'm younger than that now " OK, maybe I could have put it as Mr Dylan, but this is how it came up on the tube and it suits my mood like that Some great performances and a few memories
by George Harrison (and Eric Clapton)
Time for one more... This is the other one and IMHO never heard it performed better...nothing else needs to be said
by The Beatles
"The wild and windy night that the rain washed away Has left a pool of tears, crying for the day Why leave me standing here? Let me know the way" I admire and respect the Beatles but never been a fan and don't own any record. But just once or twice they did something special for me - this was one, still have memories of listening to this Sunday after Sunday at number 1 on Pick of the Pops...and not switching over to Radio Luxembourg
by Barclay James Harvest
It's all in the title... Great shirts and set and clever tune.. (still in connecting mode!)
by Barclay James Harvest
Well the story goes so many people compared Barclay James' music with the Moody Blues that they decided to write a song about it....and apparently Justin Hayward took it as a compliment. I just take it as a magnificent tune...
by The Moody Blues
When I was but a teenager full of hormones and other new stuff I would spin this on the Dansette and feel the emotions go up and down like a yo yo... Not quite the same effect now, but still a great emotive song from Mike Pinder and his mates, this time I believe at the Isle of Wight, complete with his new mellotron toy if I am not mistaken (I feel some linking coming up...)
by McDonald And Giles
Was back in my old hunting ground in north Manchester this week and managed to pick up around 20 classic LPs I missed first time around at a fairly reasonable price...this wasn't amongst them as I bought this over 40 years ago (nearby but the old shop is gone)..great melodies and harmonies from this pair previously in KC
by Kursaal Flyers
Probably not politically correct nowadays, but who cares? Always liked these guys mix of country(?) and rock - plus the riff on this one still does it for me every time
by LightHouse
Something a little different...(and not the Lighthouse Family!) Always loved these guys fusion of jazz, rock and something else... great performances in this version, hope you like it :)
by Steve Hackett-John Wetton-Ian McDonald
The sands of time were eroded by the river of constant change.... A few of my all time favourite musicians doing what they do best
by Robin Trower
I don't hear enough Robin Trower here, or anywhere...a master of the old guitar (and accompanying facial expressions!) and generally underrated IMHO.
by Caravan
Whats not to like? Maybe my favourite all time Caravan track, and great performance :)
by Mike Oldfield
Probably my favourite ever track/album from Mr Oldfield. Mike was a master at so many instruments, but still hadn't learnt how to smile (like this :) )

by Thin Lizzy
Guess we've all felt this at least once on our lives... Really emotive guitar and singing... another gone too early and sadly missed
by Focus
Always got off on Focus and their mix of rock n classical n Mr van Leers use of his voice as an extra instrument..great musicians all and I always thought this track was epic for the music and grandeur, but not for the title (which apparently was taken from the birthplace of one of the classical composers whom influences are heard throughout)
by Jethro Tull
"I've come down from the upper class to mend your rotten ways..." Still in the mood for Jethro and this was the first song I ever heard from them...still enjoy the full 43 minutes plus version but the essence is all here :)
Wait! There's more…
