Here are all of fatuous's jams.
Tried many, many versions of this on YouTube but the DRM cut in; hope you can see this as Rudimental and Foy Vance were great at Glastonbury. Enjoy: I'm in Venice next week, not that that has any relevance at all to this...

by William DeVaughn
You know this is sublime and probably also #FunkyFriday By clicking 'play' you contractually agree to listen to Mr DeVaughn in all his funky glory all the way through: yes, all 7 minutes and 4 seconds. It's worth it, I promise. A diamond in the back for you, a diamond in the back for you, a diamond in the back for all of you. And if you click away before it finishes, I'll know and I'll come round to your house and play it in it's glorious entirety to you. All night. Consider yourself funked.

by Paul Weller
I'm not one of those who think Paul Weller is god, but this is good nonetheless (damned by faint praise?). But his bass player looks like Bradley Wiggins in this clip and that's just too funny a concept to ignore. Enjoy.

I really wanted to post the David Ruffin version of this, it being superior IMHO, but there aren't any available versions on the web and I'm not uploading my own copy ;-( So, this is almost good enough.

by Robin Grey
Let's hope TIMJ doesn't ban me for this ;-) And for those outside of the UK news & election bubble, Robin Grey recently serenaded the UK Prime Minister at a public appearance with this ditty. There's now a crowdsourced attempt to get this to #1 in the UK ready for the election on 7th May. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Red light Green light Yellow light Wait Green with envy and Red with hate and Yellow with fear So you better stay clear IMHO, the only decent track from the Rumour without Graham Parker; and don't ask me why this popped into my head today.

by Flamin' Groovies
And the question of the week is: "Why is so hard to find Flamin' Groovies tracks on YouTube that play across all countries?" I wanted to put up the album version of "I'll Cry Alone". Oh well... even this is buried deep in the bad live mix.

About time you got some Dead in your Jam: It's not all hippy-trippy hours-long irrelevant drug-related guitar noodling, you know. "...Driving that train, high on cocaine..." Oh well, my bad.

by Cowboy Junkies
Suddenly I'm playing Cowboy Junkies playing Vic Chesnutt songs. Like this live performance but it isn't quite good enough quality to carry Margot's version of those lyrics... I flirted with you all my life, even kissed you once or twice. To this day I swear it was nice, but clearly I was not ready. Let me reassure you, I'm not ready, either.

My thoughts this week have been heavily motivated by a group of people in the UK (The Love Activists) who are using direct action to both feed homeless people and remind us all of the crime of purposely-kept-empty properties. Meanwhile here's some Chocolate.

by Salif Keita
Been listening to The Four Bros. from Zimbabwe all week in the car, but come the weekend it's time for some wondrous tunes from Mali, starting with the greatest uplifting opening to any song in any genre. There's even "The Darque Mix" on YouTube which is worth checking out, although Mr Keita's vocals don't start that cut and punch you upside like this does...

by Scott Walker
"His bloated belching figure stomps, he may crash through the ceiling soon" Truly wondrous strings and orchestra, although you may want to stop at 03:23 before the second track (why are these coupled?). And don't even go near the Glen Matlock live cover, please. Mr Walker, take a bow.

by Captain Beeheart & The Magic Band
It's a slow day here in the "Wrong Mans" town (look it up) so the Captain & his Magic Band has arrived to electrify. I remember (really I do) hearing this first when released and it made my hair stand on end (not static electricity). Can someone buy me a Theremin, please?

Change of pace this week, after Ramones and Electronic: being 21 when Northern Soul hit (at least when we noticed in the South), it was all a bit too much to be taken seriously, and my friends never got it. Good to see it arrived back again.
