Here are all of jenmaselli's jams.
by The Beatles
The only song that could be my #finaljam. Strawberry Fields is at the core of everything that I think or feel about music. My dad is a huge Beatles fan and Beatles records were my first exposure to music and all I listened to until I was old enough to start finding stuff on my own. This is the first song I really loved, before I was old enough to know what that meant. Strawberry Fields Forever and ever and ever. Thank you so much, Jammers, for the music and the friendship. Love to you all, hope to see you around. xoxo #longliveTIMJ

My penultimate jam, my favorite MGMT song, one of my favorite songs of all time. It's long, clocking in at over 12 minutes, a folky, spacey surf opera with a middle section that my dad says sounds like Donovan. It comes from a sophomore album and two guys who almost can't believe they're good at what they do and maybe it shouldn't work, but it does and they carry it off beautifully. I love it beyond all reason. #finaljams

Well, we're getting down to it now. I am completely in denial that this is happening. Can't believe this is my last Tame Impala here at TIMJ. Listen to the whole thing for some banter between Kevin and Jay. #stilljamming #godownjamming

Spent a long weekend in Yosemite - now back to our Monday routine. :( Images on the jam are a couple of shots I took with my phone, looking up at El Capitan and then a wide view that includes Half Dome and the Three Brothers.

It just doesn't get any better than Side A of the cassette version of Standing on a Beach. All those perfect singles, lined up in a row. I'll be listening to it every day from now until forever. #favoritealbums

If I had to pick my top five favorite albums of all time, Oh Inverted World would be on that list. I first heard it at a time when my whole life had been taken over by motherhood and I didn't know how to fit those things that I loved - books, music, art, movies - in the tiny spaces that were left over. When I heard it, it was like breathing in pure oxygen. In a way, Oh Inverted World rescued me and helped bring me back to the self I was before I got buried in a mound of diapers. It's an amazing listen from first track to last and I never never get tired of hearing it. #favoritealbums

by Happy End
As we are coming up on our unhappy end here at TIMJ, I thought I'd share some Happy End. These guys are often described as the Japanese Beatles but really they're too folky for a true Beatles comparison and sound more like the Japanese Crosby Stills & Nash, though truly they stand on their own. If you've never listened before (oh, who am I kidding, of course you've listened before, this is TIMJ) start with Kaze Wo Atsumete and you'll be hooked. Kazemachi Roman is a great Sunday morning coffee drinking album.

I lost my uncle today. He was a fisherman and loved the sea, loved sailing in a boat of any size, and fished the central coast in a vessel that seemed terrifyingly small to me. Wishing him fair winds and following seas as he sails on to his final destination.

It's basically impossible to find the album version of this song online. I finally made a video and uploaded it myself. One of my favorite jams from the '90's. #songsivebeenmeaningtojamforever

Not my #firstjam but from early on, when I had started to figure out what I was doing here. My favorite track off the Grey Album - the loop from Long Long Long creates a nice swervy groove that has led to many an impromptu dance party in my kitchen.

I found TIMJ a couple of years ago and quickly became immersed, carving out a little space for myself in the community. The allure of TIMJ is uncomplicated but breathtaking. Sharing my favorite songs? And more importantly, sharing my favorite songs with people who are truly interested? Yes, please. Those of us who love music are like runners in that way. The only thing we like more than listening to music is talking about music. And posting a video on FB or whatever just isn't the same thing because no one on my FB friend list cares about Haim's cover of Tame Impala's new song. But here at TIMJ, not only do people care, they actually listen and then give you a like (or a love, haha). And in return they share their favorite songs with you! This is a community with impeccable taste and exquisite manners that I have not seen the likes of on any other internet forum. My heart is broken at the thought of it ending. I'm going to jam away until the end, but I will miss you all immensely.

"...and in the meantime, here comes the chorus..." Some seriously Hendrix inspired #tameimpala for my final #outsidelands countdown song. I skipped over Billy Idol even though we'll be seeing him as well. Mony mony everyone, have a great time this weekend!

Surfer Blood guitarist Thomas Fekete has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and is undergoing treatment to stop the spread of the disease. Thought I'd jam a #surferblood track and share a link to his Gofundme page: http://www.gofundme.com/sb22g7f

Tame Impala have released a fantastic 8 minute shroom tinged dance track as the lead single off of their upcoming third release. Can't wait to see what else Kevin Parker has cooked up!

Heading off for a Valentine's Day getaway with my schmoopsie. I'm gonna let Ms. Lauryn Hill sing us out. ;)

KIlling Me Softly (With His Song) has an interesting origin story and has been covered many, many times since it was first recorded by Lori Lieberman in 1971. The Roberta Flack version is the most well known and considered definitive, but this is my favorite - propelled by a sample from ATCQ and that immense vocal from Lauren Hill.

One of three tracks from the upcoming Mark Ronson album that feature Kevin Parker. This should hold me over until we have some new Tame Impala later this year. ;)

So so so so so so excited to finally see Tame Impala live tomorrow night. Tried not to look up any of their set lists but couldn't help myself and a lot of my faves are on it, including this one. Cheers!

I turn 40 in 4 days and I've been looking through the charts from my birth week to find a jam that marks the occasion. #1 that week was 'Rock Me Gently' by Andy Kim but not only is it a terrible song, it didn't quite have the right feel. Olivia Newton-John was in the #2 spot, also not promising, but then - there at #3 - was Billy Preston. A fantastic jam and a song I've always loved. So, here it is, my birthday jam, direct from 1974. Now, someone pass me a glass of champagne and a xanax.

The Shins before they were The Shins...Flake Music was James Mercer's pre-Shins project. They released one album and most of the band went on to be members of The Shins. Sub Pop is re-releasing 'When You Land Here, It’s Time to Return' on Nov 25th - you can pre-order now, or find the full album on YouTube and give it a listen. :) http://goo.gl/qmCRWB

Long version - clocking in around 11:00 minutes - off of Take it From the Man! which was the first of three releases from the BJM in 1996. I love the end where they do the Woo Woo's and the Na na na na's. Anton rips off everyone, but he does it with style.
