"Wild hair tumbling from the centre of your skull like spaghetti" I went to see them live three times when I lived in Wales.
by Floyd Jones
Floyd Jones was an American blues singer, guitarist and songwriter, who is significant as one of the first of the new generation of electric blues artists to record in Chicago after World War II. A number of Jones' recordings are regarded as classics of the Chicago blues idiom,[1] and his song "On The Road Again" was a top ten hit for Canned Heat in 1968. Jones was born in Marianna, Arkansas. He started playing guitar seriously after being given a guitar by Howlin' Wolf, and worked as an itinerant musician in the Arkansas and Mississippi area in the 1930s and early 1940s, before settling in Chicago in 1945. #JamBooks - Fun for all - Joyce got the title of his book from the Irish traditional song first written down in 1870. Anyone out there actually read it? I got as far as 130 pages.

Went to a 35th anniversary screening of The Shining this evening with a cast and crew Q and A. Great to see it on the big screen plus I got to meet the twins!
by Grateful Dead
Although I'm not a fan of the band's mystique and fandom, I do enjoy some of their music, and any serious #hippiedaze accounting would be incomplete without them.

"Are We This Face?" You may not know the name or recognize his face, but his voice will be eerily familiar to you. You may swear you have heard it before but can't quite put your finger on it. That's cuz he's done commercials and movie trailers and all kinds of voice over work for over half a century. I urge you to google "word jazz" or just go to wordjazz.com and lose a lazy afternoon of your life to his deep resonant voice. I wanted to post "What Time Is It?" but couldn't find a good copy. His "Sound Museum" is also a lot of fun. "Infinite O'Clock" was on my short list for this jam, but here in The Faces In The Jazzmatazz you get a taste of what the man's about. How he is a consummate storyteller and can take your mind places you've never been. His voice is powerful and personal. Like an old friend or esteemed mentor or an unreliable narrator with a wink in his smile. In my youth I dreamed to be as good as he is at the spoken word. I'm still dreaming. Let me know what you think.

Ginger Baker replaced Tony Newman when he left the band. Newman was a great drummer in his own right though.

I have officially reached the angry phase of winter, I cannot deal, I cannot cope. I just want to lie on a rock like a lizard, in the desert, for a whole month. This song has been just simmering in the back of my head for weeeeeeeks.
Wait! There's more…
